Bought a House in Las Vegas

When I bought a place in Cabo late last year, I thought I’d transition to spending full time there. However, I quickly realized that I still really love cars, and Cabo isn’t a great place for sports cars. The roads are really, really rough, and you don’t really wanna advertise wealth there. So I wanted to keep a place in the US where I could still indulge in short performance drives and long road trips. Combine that with the fact that Cabo summers are pretty doggone hot, and I figured I’d get a place up north where I could enjoy the summers.

I love, love, love Southern California, but as I started hunting for places to buy, I realized it didn’t really make sense. The simple law of supply and demand dictates that when a lot of people wanna live somewhere, prices are gonna escalate. There’s only so much space along the ocean. In SoCal, property costs and income taxes are pretty doggone high.

Instead, I ended up picking Las Vegas because:

Okay, there’s one big drawback: Las Vegas is in the desert, so in the summer, it’s hot. I tried to find other places with similar advantages that had really nice weather in the summer (70s-80s, low humidity) and I just couldn’t find good options. I really love mountain towns in Colorado, but the property prices are crazy right now.

I still have the place in Cabo, and I’ll be going back & forth for now. Maybe someday, I’ll get tired of playing around with cars, and I’ll sell the house and the cars and just settle down in Mexico. For now, though, I’m really happy every time I hit the garage opener.

Yeah, I bought something else too – more on that later.
